PAX time

So I'm brand new to this autocross stuff and I must say I had a great time at Martin!

Would anyone be kind enough to explain PAX time and perhaps the other columns on the results page? Thanks for a fun event.   John

Re: PAX time

The intention of a PAX time is supposed to even things out a bit.  So that, say, when you have a Chevette going up against a Corvette, the PAX time would take the performance of each car under consideration, then spit out a magic number that your raw time would be multiplied by.  Hmm, not a very good explaination I guess.

Okay, a super fast car would have a multiplier of 1.00

A Chevette might have a mulitplier of .65  because (theoretically) the Chevette has .65% of the performance potential of a Corvette.   Hmm, somebody help me out here.  lol.  Glad to hear you had a good time  :)

Re: PAX time

That was a pretty good explanation Mark.  If you get into autocross more it makes sense.  Not only are you racing against the guys in your class you are racing against a National expectation of how fast your class as a whole SHOULD be.  I doubt Furrin will ever attract an A mod car to an event but they hypothetically should be the fastest so they get a 1.00 (these cars are beasts with hopped up motorcycle engines and huge wings (think go-carts on crack)).  Every other class should be slower and are assigned a number that changes every year based on many National level races and class performance.

Here is a good write up I found:
